I said I thought one fish would make all the difference; and I was right. I’m not sure what place I ended up in with my weight of 6-11, but the 8lber I lost first thing this morning would have had me at the top. There was really nothing I could have done differently. The fish was foul hooked on a shad rap; it came up to the top about 10’ from the boat and I noticed it was hooked in its’ back. The fish was just wallowing on top and then it decided to go ballistic jumping and then took off like a rocket toward a dock. I free-spooled the line keeping light tension with my thumb, but the fish was just too powerful and pulled off. So close yet so far! I had a tough day after that; this all took place about 8 in the morning. I ended up catching all my fish on a jig. After Chris caught his limit he went looking for big smallies throwing a chatterbait on some bluff walls. It’s nearly impossible for a co-angler to catch fish when a pro is paralleling a bluff bank. I was dropping the jig in the 4’ between the boat and the bluff and letting it sink. Most of the fish hit the jig on the fall. Tomorrow I fish with JT, so it should be a fun day. After the weigh-in today, FSN did the Co-angler close up segment with me. It was fun. Tomorrow they’re going to follow us and do some on-water filming while we’re fishing. Hopefully it will come out good. FSN said it will be a one minute segment for the television show. Click to enlarge...
