I think I've fished Wheeler 2 or 3 times. The 2 times that I remember most vividly involve me losing giant fish and not making the cut. A few years ago the stren championship was there and I found the mother load of bass. Unfortunately I did not come prepared and I only had them on a frog momentarily, then they would pull off; braided line is a must when fishing a frog. Lesson learned. I lost over 22lbs that day and it only took 20lbs for 2 days to make the cut. The next one was 2 years ago in a FLW Series event that I was fishing as a co-angler. I fished with Chris Baumgardner the first day and lost a giant(over 8) on a shadrap. I had it right to the boat, it jumped and threw the hook, but got snagged in the back. Chris was about to net it and it made one last mad charge and pulled off. If I hadn't lost that fish I would have won the tournament. I haven't had the best luck on Wheeler, but I do have experience on the lake. I'm looking forward to the event. If I do well in this tournament, it could mean big things for next year.
