The tradition continues !

I was half-expecting Mother Nature to give us the same windy treatment she did last Sunday. Mercy was granted, and all we had to overcome was the river fog and debris.

Launching at Wethersfield was fun. I almost had to flood his Jeep before the Tub got buoyant enough to float ! I also parked it a good 25ft or so above the waterline in the lot. 8 to 10 inches of water were waiting around it when we returned. The PiratesTub does fine in 8 inches of water, so getting out of the boat was easy \:D

We were set up way before sunrise, and anticipated an early crappie bite that never showed. While waiting for the fish to wake up, we got to see the sun rise through the trees and fog. It made for some very cool pics.

This pic was taken after the other one. The fog was still getting thicker.

After the evil red fog lifted, the bite started happening for us. Well, Kapt anyway. He had bought a crapload of varieties of bait, and the catfish definitely had a favorite. I was on the **** side of the boat this trip, was lucky to reel in a 4lb'er.

We were also visited for a while by Mike G and Richie aboard the Vagabond with Don, and Capt. Alewife, and ??? (sorry Mike, forgot to ask who that was).

The gathering afterward went off very well. A bit of organization and coordination made for a very successful cookout. A big thanks to Paul, Chris and the Trophy Crew, Amy, Mitch, and everone else who lent a hand. Cleanup looked good too. Great job on helping bus out the trash !!!

Anyone who left early missed Mitch and Kapt matching wits over Mitch's missing award. A complete lack of defenses on either side made for some great entertainment.

Mitch finding Ron's Jeep open, and stealing the spare keys while locking himself in it.
Ron taking Mitch's cap he had bagged somehow, and shoving it down the front of his pants. Mitch resists, and Ron starts heading to the "back country" with his cap. Game over ! LOL

Lots more entertainment between those two, including Ron hiding an object in Scott's Jeep while they weren't looking. I believe that object was a full bag of garbage. I almost died laughing when Scott opened the tailgate to grab something out of the back, and never noticed it ! :p
Not only did Zach catch a break this year, he caught the pirate in the act. Amy also had her family with her. Her husband (Rob, Ron ? sorry, i forget) and two children came for the event too, and stayed late to chat with us. A great CTF family i finally got to meet.

Now, if you asked Amy for a shirt and missed the event or whatever, please make sure you follow through and make arrangements to complete the deal. Chris will probably be willing to accept payments still, and i'll be more than happy to help too if needed.

Time to get ready for the Iceholes event !!!!!! Get that sucker rolling Mike !!

Slow fishing is better than no fishing.
