What a day, thanks everyone. The weather started off a little chilly as shown on the temp gauge on the car above. But as the day went on the layers were coming off as fast as the lures were being switched. As mentioned already it took us a while to put a fish in the boat and our prime time bite was wasted in what we thought would have been a prime marina. Even Team Labatts was getting worried for while, until about 10 when Zach put the first in the boat. Tried a few more spots and another marina with no luck. So off to Chapmans we went. Thats were it happenned and it happenned while trolling, go figure. I was pleading to troll and I finally got everyone on pace for it. First pass it felt like my lure was caught up (hmm...didn't feel like trout) until I felt some head shakes. Couple sounds of the drag and I knew it was a good fish. When Zach and I finally saw the fish, which seemed like eternity, we were sure it was a 40 and hoping Zach could get it in the net. As it made one more pass Zach scooped it up as the crank bait came off. Paul called it at 37 before we even measured it. A couple loud cheers, pictures and a measurement and off she went. Later on I guess this was how my day was to go, as I felt like throwing a white spinner bait and I saw one of Paul's rods sitting there with a white spinner bait. I picked it up, made one cast, no joke and brought in a 30 incher. Thats when Paul was about to throw me overboard but instead he just broke his two favorite lures. Well the trash talking is done till next year as I have to defend my status. Hmmm has anyone had back to back..hehehe.
Thanks to Paul for doing the guiding and my other teammate for a great time and net job. This is definitely the superbowl of CTF Outings and it showed. Thanks to Paul, Mitch and Buckcall for the work they put into this. Another thanks to Amy for the time she put into the shirts. And Chris for the amazing trophies (it looks great on my coffee table). And CT Outfitters for the Gift Certifcates. And also anyone who donated to the raffle. It was nice putting some faces to the names and hanging around everyone, old and new.
