I went to buy some green crabs tday and about **** my pants. The bait shop wanted $4 a dozen!! [wow] I said you have got to be kidding me!! he said no only $2.50 / doz for frozen. I turned around and left. Came home and made one phone call to a bait shop I bought from last year and got a terrific deal. Guy said I am tired of counting those damn things. I got 4 prices now, bring in a 5 gal bucket; $20 I fill it, 3/4 full $15, 1/2 full $10, and 1/4 full $5, now what a difference. I guess it pays to shop around.

Zip--You have to get a crab trap from me or build one. If you are ever caught short you can always get greenies from me. I think Dee's gets 8 cents per crab.

Brewski's in Pawcatuck on Liberty Street (route 2). It is close to the junction of route 1 and route 2 on the Rhode Island border.

Brooksie,

How do you build a crab trap? Should be pretty simple, I know, but I'd like to hear how you do it. I'm sure there are a few billion of the little buggers right under my dock.

I used to trap my own, but trailer my boat and had it stolen more than once when I left it in, as I had no secire place to keep it. SO I just buy them now.

I build mine out of a 5 gallon bucket. I have a few at the house now.

Ted's in Old Saybrook is $2.25/dozen. He collects them himself and they are very frisky and healthy crabs.

Ted used to sell them by the 5 gallon bucket also. Do not know if he still does.

Fuzzy2u, Wood or wire(better)-a small (12x12x18) rectangular box with 2 holes in the top about 5 inches in diameter with about 3 or 4 inches of pvc in each hole like recessed chimneys. Make one of the sides on hinges with a latch of some sort for dumping out the crabs, snails etc. Crabs crawl up on top and fall thru holes and can't get out. We catch 100's right under our boat. Hoop-how do you do it?
