Piketoberfest 2006 in images con't

definitely a slow bite and tough pike conditions- we casted hard from sunrise until around 9 or so. We decided to troll out of our spot - and I picked up this 26 incher on a small slammer crankbait (my only red lure- I need to re-stock!)

nothing spectacular, but got the skunk out of the boat!

we headed to our final area around 11 or so- casted hard but still no sign of fish. So at Jack's urging- we switched up to some deep water trolling- and that was the ticket for about a 15 minute window of cloudiness. Jack picked up this pudgy 37 incher on a deep diving jointed crankbait over ~14 ft. way to get your skunk out Jack! I played netboy on this one

about 10 minutes later still trolling - a felt a bump, another bump- and then bam! fish on - still nothing to brag about - 27 inches or so (aka- a dink) but still a fun catch

it wouldn't be a Zach report without some scenery- it was pretty serene out there- can't ask for more comfortable conditions in late October

Mitch, Paul, And Chris. What an awesome time! Food was good the company was awesome and the fishin stunk! We actually did get one to the boat, at what turned out to be a community hole that lit up with 7 fish being caught in 1 hour! Beautiful day and the rain held off, I figure most of us wanted clouds, but hey?
This was my first Piketoberfest so we wanted the boat to look nice!!!!! \:D and we set out and did everything we wanted(except launch Busch cans at team Labaats with a water balloon launcher!) Had a wonderful time, and I'll try and put some pics up later \:o Tbone, Elcap,..cheers!.. Channel matt, cwood, andrew, Zach,Den, Jack,Lancraft, anglerchix, awh hell everybody!!!!, finally nice to put faces with names! I'll leave it here for now, and to all those who didn't attend....oops! We had a blast! Congrats Jack!

piketoberfest pics finale

Jack added insult to injury- he picked up Paul's rod with a white spinnerbait with about 15 minutes to go - and on one cast- bam - picked up this ~30 incher

Paul, in a fit of rage, pulled the tails off two of his favorite lures and began beating jack with them. I had to separate them and force them to make up. luckily- Paul saw the humor in it later -and now looks on to his former favorite lures with great fondness

I was greeted at the picnic with Kapt's chili table

incredible turnout. We may have to alert the media in the area for next year's event. This one truly is the CTF superbowl of freshwater fishing! and EATING! \:D

so the sun sets on ANOTHER blockbuster piketoberfest- my favorite CTF event every year - already looking forward to and planning for next years PF6!!!! thanks so much to everyone who made it happen- especially Pdona, Amy (for the AWESOME shirts!), Chris (for the AWESOME trophies- wow!), to the cooks and chefs- and lastly - to everyone who came out again! what a blast

one more pic- Kapt taking home his piketoberfest winning trophy....

wait a second... Kapt has never caught a pike at piketobefest? how did he win a trophy? I'm confused

Fishing is way too important to take so seriously...

Huge thanks and a round of applause to P. Dona for once again putting together a great event.

Thanks to Mitch and Chris for a great job on the raffle.

Thanks to Buckcall for giving me a ride and putting us on a couple fish.

Thanks to everyone who brought a ton and a half of food and completely blew my diet.

Nice to see all had a great time. I was always tog tugging so I never made a pike event. Looks like I never will as I have shifted to tuna tugging.

Photos are great and loved the reports. Kapt traded in his flag for a trophy????????

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
