Up and on the water again before the sun. Yesterday was all small bass and pickerel but no size. Off to the frog pond. I managed 2 quality fish on a frog over deeper water but the shoreline slop didn’t produce any action at all. As the wind shifted, it blew the duckweed out and opened up some water that allowed me to throw a spinner bait, and that resulted in the big fish of the day. It had a very distinctive injury to its back but was healthy and took off like a freak. Another fun morning, followed up with breakfast at noon, with friends. Perfect!!
Hard to tell from the pics but did the big bass with the back injury also have small/deformed tail fins? It is amazing how tough life in the wild is for wildlife to survive, and how often we come across injured or deformed wildlife that still make it through and often thrive.
That bass looks like it dodged a cormorant, merganser or heron a long time ago . Or maybe an otter .

"Politically correct" was initially coined by Leon Trotsky to refer favorably to those whose views remained in sync with the ever-shifting Bolshevik Party line. This was important, as "not PC" people risked prison or death.
