I launched the kayak about 6 o’clock this morning in a shallow pad infested pond. I started with a buzz bait, and on the second cast landed my first fish of the day. I picked up two others on the buzz bait before getting into the thick mats of Lily pads and started throwing a black frog. The wind was a definite problem and was gusting close to 20 miles an hour at times. My kayak would lodge itself into the lily pads and allow me to be stationary and work an area before moving on and repeating. I was rewarded with seven fish, and missed as many as usual when fishing a frog in the slop. It was a very eventful morning and my shoulders got a great workout paddling back into that wind.
