Another fine morning in God痴 creation. I worked multiple gobbling birds from way off for 30 minutes and, as often happens, they went silent on me. This usually means they池e coming, but after 20 minutes of silence, I adjusted myself in the brush pile and put my head back and closed my eyes to soak up the morning痴 sounds and simply enjoy being there. When I decided to reopen my eyes, I couldn稚 believe what I was seeing! Not one, not two, but three big long beards silently strutting at less than 20 yards in front of my decoys! I dared not to move, as one of the Tom痴 was strutted out at 15 yards and facing me. Too many eyes to even move! My gun was across my lap and I remained motionless in the brush pile. Finally, one spun its fan to shield the other痴 view and I shouldered the gun. I picked one, fired and he folded. The other Tom痴 flushed at the shot and landed on a branch 50 yards away. I stayed still until they finally flew down into the woods. After 10 minutes I could finally go admire my bird. This is my personal imposed limit bird,(2), so that means even more fishing time coming up. Good luck to everyone chasing those gobbles!
