Did some afternoon tube & worm with a couple of friends on Tuesday 9-13. With Lee & Ken fishing, Ken pulls in a 29" bluefish after a fun fight. So Ken drives and I start fishing. All of a sudden I am on! A nice one too. It gave me a good fight, but when it got close to the boat, she just stayed on the bottom. A couple of time I thought I may have actually snagged bottom.
After a few minutes I finally pulled her off the bottom and finally got to see her. Yup, it's a BIG one! With Lee acting as net boy, we finally got her to the net. It took the three of us to lift the net into the boat.
The final figures. The striper was 52 inches, and weighted a hefty 47 lbs. She had a girth of 29" and the tail had a wingspan of 15"!
We spent the next few minutes high-fiving each other, and taking pictures. I just got a digital camera and have started taking pictures with it.
I hope to post some pictures within a couple of days if I can finally figure out how to do it. I haven't solved that yet. If not, I may ask somebody if I can email them the pictures & have them post the pictures for me.
This may be my fish of a lifetime. I'll keep trying, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to beat it. My nephew Lee complained that he'll probably have to hear me brag about it for the next six weeks. Weeks? Think years, my boy! In short, it was a great day! Good friends, and a great fish.
Great job! Think lifetime when it comes to stories.
Behold the fisherman. Mighty are his preparations. He arises early and full of hope. He fishes all day and returns late in the evening, smelling afoul, and the truth is not in him.
