Was coming back from Port Sulpher just before dark and a sow and 2 of the young waited for me to drive by before crossing the road from Captain John's house to the river levee. She was only about 80 pounds herself. I have seen them in this area well over 300 pounds. This area is only half mile up the road from my house. There is very little cover here for them but they have been all throughout this area for years. Most of the hunters go across the river for them. Any discharge of a firearm in this area is not legal but it does happen on a regular basis. That's Life!!!!

One Eyed Ed got 4 the other evening and one more the next day across the river. Austin Willams got 2 in his back yard one weighing around 400 the other about 200 pounds in the same evening last week.

Life is Good!

Hogs have the same flavors as regular pork ? You need to keep the qty's of them in check, Larry !

Right after Katrina we had trapped and pened up 15 of them before the wildlife agents made us release all but one that we were allowed to keep for food.

Last year Will Wall and some other charter captains were duck hunting and got thier limit. As they were picking up thier decoys 5 hogs walked through the decoy spread. They ended up with a limit of ducks and 5 hogs. All 5 were dropped on the spot and loaded into the pickup truck.

I do not hunt any more but may be tempted to start again. Our most wanted size is 80-120 pounds.

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.

I work on a tugboat and heading up the Mississippi river this morning they were all over the place on the river banks, some big boys too. If only they allowed us to bring guns aboard:(

Maritime 11

I live in empire close to the bridge and they are thicker than heck. BTW; I live on the old hyw with the levee in my front yard. Dont know what there is more of yots or hogs.

Look me up if you get some free time. I know the tug work is tough and when you get off you run home but food for thought.
