So some jerk on the lake has a string fencing along the water to, i guess try to keep the birds out.
Yesterday we saw a baby goose stuck in it and being protected by an adult goose. I tied the boat to the dock next door and went into this guys yard and get to the brid from behind. I reached in and cut several strings to free the bird. My buddy took pics.

I called the DEP this morning and was told they would be very interested and an officer would call me back. No call back yet.

The bird seemed hurt as it swam away. it went on shore cause we chased it to try and catch it. we thought it had some left over string on its legs, but it didnt. it went on shore and stumbled around. we left hoping it was going to be ok.

I have a few more pics and a little more details if anyone from the DEP cares to know more and/or do something about this hazard to the wild life string fence

The easiest way to keep geese from moving between the water and your lawn is not to mow down to the water's edge. Keep about three feet of high grass along the edge and the geese won't come up.

Give the TIP line another call.....I checked with the dispatchers and they don't know who took the call on Friday and don't have any info.

Give them a call with the info and they will have an officer contact you.

Thank you rookie for freeing the baby goose.

Hopefully they take that death trap fencing down.

not to be a total downer, but the world could do without a few canada geese these days. its a sad situation, but there needs to be a reduction in the geese and (cough cough) cormorant population.

Lets put some deer traps along rt 77 too since they like to cross that road we put in the middle of the woods so we can travel to the lake. Just something to snip a couple of thier legs off so they cant cross the road anymore where we like to drive our cars.
Give me a break. If you dont want geese in your yard, you shuldnt buy a house on any water. Maybe a REAL fence would be better than the netting he is using.
