Sly,
I was looking at that unit at cabella's this weekend for $129 to use as a portable. It was listed as portable but you have to purchase the battery, charger and stand separate for another $50. I think it's a discontinued unit at this point.
I found a humminbird 565 portable in the clearance dept for $139 dollars and went with it instead due to the slightly higher pixel count.
That being said I would have gone with the Lowrance had there not been a better deal. The lowrance also has the flasher option, although it's not color and hard to decipher whats under you, I'm sure you could tune it in though.
I'm no expert on these, just trying to give some insight. If you go to cabelas website, you can compare the units they have in a spread sheet type format. Really shows the differences side by side.
You may want to post this under the electronics forum for more response.
Good luck

I've had one for 2 years now. and it's been great.

My name is Jim. You can call me slim. I row my boat way out to the middle.Cause the fish I'm after ain't so little. Pike, Trout, Largemouth Bass. Get me out there really fast. I know I'm good, really the best. The rest of you are such a pest. - By Henry Gibson
