my boys and i want to sleep out in the picnic grove (across from the rt. 16 comstock brg.) area sat. night and get up and fish in the morinin, i was told it's owned by the east hamton fire dept. or is it state owned and can we do a sleep over in that area?
That whole field used to be full ot tents every Opening Day weekend when it was owned by the Fire Department. I did it one year and it was pretty cool.
This is what I recall..please correct me if I am wrong..
I believe the State bought it about 3 years ago and they no longer allow camping there. It is just there. Because of "financial reasons" there is nothing going on there yet. This is what I heard anyway..
I actually think a campground at SR would be cool - I'd go there..

Yes, it's owned by the local FD and is private property. There are several others actual campgrounds in the area- Markham Meadows, Nelson's Campground and even Wolf's Den just down the road in Moodus. All close to great freshwater fishing.

I am pretty darn sure the State bought that property, but i could be wrong. Does anyone know for sure ? I am just curious and want to know...
