Today went alot better than yesterday. We started out throwing spinnerbaits on the grass edges and caught a quick limit. They weren't very big, but I'll take it. A little later in the day we got onto a toad bite which is always fun. Here's a picture of a good one I caught today on a toad(4+).

I ended up catching a pretty decent limit and was happy with the day. I'm getting closer to what I think I need to do well. I'm a little concerned about my trolling motor batteries though. They ran out at about 1 yesterday afternoon. I thought it was just because I was pushing it so hard in the thick grass. Today they ran out again at about 2. Hopefully they can help me figure out what's going with it at the Ranger support trailer tomorrow. I also caught something else today; here's a picture of what a Potomac river crayfish looks like:

Everyone always says that blue is the color to throw down here. After seeing this crayfish I think I might try out some red!

Yeah, I guess it doesn't get more "match the hatch" than that. It looks exactly like the Storm craws that I throw.

Don't doubt in the dark what you learned in the light.

Have a safe time on the water and may that tight line be pulling back.

Dusty and I practiced for about 4 hours today. We found one area that had a few fish, but it was in Mattawoman and there were about 30 other boats in the area. It could be good for one or two fish though. We got off the water a little early to stop by the Ranger trailer. There were a bunch of people in line so we waited awhile, then I got impatient and decided to leave. When I got back to the hotel I spooled some line, retied some baits, filled the oil, stuff like that. I'm going out to check the progress of the batteries right now.....the charger reads 3 fully charged and one not charged at all. They should all be charged by morning. I took the prop off the trolling motor this evening to see if there might be some fishing line wrapped around the prop shaft. It wasn't fishing line, but a mass of really strong weeds; hopefully that's what was causing the batteries to wear down. Here's a picture of my rod locker:

This is a picture of what a good day of fishing looks like! I think the smallest line I have on any of those rods is 15lb; most have 20 or bigger. I love fishing this way! Let's see if the fish Dusty and I found will be good enough for a top finish. I don' t think we found the right size fish, but sometimes they grow up overnight.

Second from the top looks to be some sort of red craw imitation? Hopefully that little gem pays off. Nice to see someone on the pro circuit throws with a left handed baitcaster.

Don't doubt in the dark what you learned in the light.
