Completely agree. It's a 'safe' and predictable sound. That's how every FM radio metal band sounds now. It's cool to write songs about being vindictive about your failed relationships, mope about getting hurt, and have the chip-on-the-shoulder image.

Where's the beef? Where's the legions of 1980s Metallica fans chanting "FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS"?????? It's out there, just don't watch MTV or listen to 106.9.

Even what was an arena for somewhat lesser unknown bands to get out there is now totally commercialized. Try watching MTV2s headbangers ball or The Rock Countdown. Every 20 second commerical in between is other record companies pushing their new metal bands.

Some other completely awesome bands:

Bunker, I agree most bands today are not as good as the old ones. I remeber watching Anthrax on Headbangers Ball. Now thats a band. Boy I really wish they would make a new album.

Went to ozzfest last sunday, they were spraying the crowd on the 2nd stage with a garden hose it was so hot! Atreau was awesome as was black label society. Disturbed was awesome with some really good thoughts in between sets, it was good to see some local talent on the main stage with hatebreed who totally rocked and it was just an awesome day. Got there at 9:45am and left when system of a down was finnished at 10:45pm.
awesome time, crowd was good, only saw 2 fights almost breakout before other people jumped in between and broke things up. the crowd did a good job of watching out for each other.

Got 10th row for Maiden at the Meadows(Dodge) October 4th. The only band in this threadr that are worth mentioning are In Flames, Soilwork and Anthrax. All the rest wish they were Maiden. Up the Irons. Sharon should be eaten alive by Eddie

Saw maiden last year at ozzfest, they were ok but the mic was off through half of the first song. Hoping to go to hatebreed at the webster on sept. 9th.

Ltoolmanb, that's because of Sharon Osbourne and BLS screwing with Maiden. That's why people hate them both. At the last show in CA. she had people in her entourage throw eggs at Bruce Dickinson, mind you every band in Ozzfest had to sign an egreement not to throw anything into the audiance, including drum sticks or picks, and she had the sound equipment turned on and off and had some idiot keep saying Ozzy over Bruce while he was singing.

Sharon had her idiot entourage and BLS screw with Maiden during thier set. She had them playing with the sound equipment and throw things at them during different shows including Hartford. The last show in CA. was the worst. Where's Ozzy now? Maiden carried Ozzfest 05 when Ozzy had trouble with his voice. Up the Irons
