Wow, Gary would have never pegged you as a metal-head! But that's the great thing about the music, there's a lot of people you'd never expect to be into it.

Great job passing on the metal tradition to your son. That's got to be a trip for a kid to see a show like that for the first time. \:\)

Just got home from Zappa plays Zappa at the Chevy
(Oakdale)theatre. I was a bit disapointed that they didn't play a single song from Joe's garage or for that matter any of his other greatest hit's.
They played a lot of obscure stuff I never heard of. I recognized three songs. But despite that it was a great show. From a musical stand point it was incredible. Not exactly sure how to explain it, but you would get caught up in the music and get lost in it. The sound carried you away to another place in your mind.
Throughout most of the show they had ten musicians on stage. 4 guitars 2 drummers
2 keyboardist/sax 1 percusionist 1 singer/sax.
They closed with each drummer doing a couple minute solo each and then came together for a dual on drums. Followed up by some incredible guitar work.
Even if you a marginal fan of Zappa or just someone that loves beautiful music, I highly recomend you check them out.

obscure music by the zappa family? Unheard of...

Ain't this somethin'? I told my pap and mam I was coming to the mountains to trap and be a mountain man. Acted like they was gut-shot. Says, "son, make your life go here. Here's where the peoples is. Them mountains is for animals and savages." I said, "Mother Gue, the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world." And by God I was right.

Even if they didn't play any A-sides Chris, i'm still jealous. Between laziness and spending too much $$$ on fishing i wasn't gonna go, as much as i would have liked to. Not many shows catch my eye these days.

I agree. Even without all the popular tunes, there's still a mess of talent worth checking out.

One of the benefits of working here. I swear to you I was trying to score an extra set for you two guy's. I know you both are Zappa fans.
Needless to say I couldn't get another pair.

Seadog, The one he did the other night was very similar but better. His drum set was huge.
He had three Bass drums and probably 20 drums, tom toms ect above them and at least as many symbals, maybe a few more.
