:p I hear you Riverwader I was in hartford for the B.A.S.S. Turney that Roland Martin Won and the Small Mouth at that Final weigh in were awesome!!! The average was 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 # Ken Cook had nothing but praise for the Fisherie and how the CT River had come back from what he'd been told of it's History :p

I guess everyone's right. I've just never personally witnessed a surge in fisherman at lakes/ponds from the site's influence. Granted, I haven't been to the hotspots that often.
I forget there are several thousand people on the board!
Greg not only a surge in Fishermen/women but also the same ideas on where to fish, Today I went to Powers with my Kid and it looked like a tournament, had to be at least 8 BassBoats covering every shoreline,Point,weedline etc. Same thought shallow reletivley warm 71.5' and somewhat shelterd from the heavier gusts of wind. But no Bass for us not even a toothy critter which is good when nothing else hits

The area where the 15-8 came from in MASSACHUSETTS has an amazing forage base of herring, we don't have anything comparable here in CT. I just think that gives Mass a little edge on truly big bass over CT. That 15-8 bass was the largest northern strain largemouth ever caught I believe. Nevertheless, I'd love to see a bunch of 10 plus bass in CT, especially if I was lucky enough to catch and release one.
I hear Ya Huskybass, I don't think the 15/8 was fortunate enough to be released. but through the ICE gives the angler the advantage I'd say even though I've never done it. My personal best was a 4+ at messerschmitts back in 97 and that was just Luck, Pitchin to isolated pads. I thought that was pretty good only being about 2yrs.+ after the damn repair.

Hey Husky I've got a question for you, Now I've had these 2 spinner Baits for quite a few years now and have never seen them anywhere else got them at Pauls Custom Tackle back in the Mid 80's called a ShortArm if I remember right anyone still making those? The Jighead section is actually Longer than the Standard about where a Trailer Hook would end up, They've caught quite a few Bass for me over the years.

I also read that the 15-8 from Mass was the largets bass caught north of the Mason/Dixon line and I agree with Husky about the forage base. Just look at the California fish, it's the trout forage base of these lakes that has created the monstors, not the climate. with few holdover trout in CT lakes and no real major trout lake spawning where bass could gorge themselves on an annual eating spree, it ain't going to happen here.
Maybe if we dig a canal to the ocean for places like Moodus and Amos we too can get a herring run.
The spinnerbait you are describing sounds like a Stan Sloan Short Arm Aggravator. I believe bass pro shops sells them.

I would love to believe that there are many 10 plus largemouth in CT. It seems that every year, I hear about 1 or 2 being caught. I was given 25 years of DEP trophy records ranging from 1965 to 1989. The vast majority of trophy largemouth bass registered with the DEP are 6 pounds. There are a fair amount of 7 pound bass on the list. Bass over 8 pounds are relatively scarce, and 9's, 10's and 11's are present but very few and far between. I once saw an 11-4 largemouth that was mounted. It was caught in the Moodus reservoir in 1974, a truly impressive fish. I wish you well in your quest for trophy bass. I would love to see photos of any that you catch.
Huskybass, that 11/4 wouldn't happen to have been the one in Paul's that he caught would it? I used to look at that thing every time in his shop and wonder what it be like
