Passions and opinions are definitely running high. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I’ve stated my beliefs once and that’s good enough for me.

People want to talk about this election, so I’m more than happy to provide a forum to do so. How you behave, is up to you. I think keeping it to one thread makes it easy for those who want to participate, as well as for those who want to ignore it.

Once the election is over -– and everyone gets in their final words on the outcome –- I’ll shut this thread down.

Then, unless it specifically involves fishing or something really newsworthy, political threads will be rare.

God help us if he DOESN'T!!

Don't confuse "appeasing the global community" with co-existing within it peacefully! Bush is a global bully and all global bullies come to the same end. If we don't get rid of him we may all come to that end as well, right along with him!

Getting along peacefully within the global community is KEY to protecting the U.S. You really don't get it, do you?

I am not suggesting not pursuing, capturing, and/or killing known terrorists, like Bin Laden, Al Queda (I hate that guy, "Al"!) or the Taliban which sponsored and supported them. You never heard a single word of protest from any of us Dems or the global community when we went into Afghanistan. Everyone knew we were right, and we were justified.

But our unprecedented "preemptive" strike against Iraq was totally premature, totally unjustified, and totally opportunistic. Bush capitalized upon the post 9-11 patriotism, and anti-Iraq sentiment created by his own disinformation and propaganda, to start a war that was politically advantageous to him because well meaning Americans like you want SOMEONE to pay for 9-11, and as Joh H. put it, it doesn't matter who!

Bush is banking on that type of blind, flag-waving, nationalist, "patriotism" to make him a hero to middle America, and get himself reelected. Americans like yourself wanted and needed an enemy, and since Bush could not locate, capture, or kill Bin Laden, he gave you Hussein, made him his scape-goat, and you all fell for it, and are continuing to fall for it, even after all of Bush's so called
"intelligence" (I can barely bring myself to use his name and inteilligence in the same sentence!) proved to be all LIES!!!

Bush's gambit failed, and he cannot continue to convince a majority of us that Iraq was not a mistake. He will be called to account for his lies and his failed foreign policies, not to mention his failed domestic policies, come election day.

Baitrunner, you said that Bush's tax cut did not help you because of state and local levies. You don't get it either!

The reason for that is that along with Bush's tax cut came corresponding deep cuts in federal spending which resulted in increased state and local taxes. Overall, our taxes have increased over the past four years, but the truly wealthy have profited from it because they don't rely upon any of that federal spending.

They continue to increase their personal wealth while the rest of us continue to struggle. Bush's economic policies come down to taking from the poor and giving to the rich, and again, there aint no tricklin down!

I can't wait for the next debate! Its so much fun to watch Bush trip on his D***!!

Oh and BTW, Jon H.... F George W. Bush!

K.C.

I cannot help myself! ;\)

You see, I am a product of the superior public education system of the great city of New Britain! Hence I am well educated, possess a superior vocabulary, and I am a highly articulate and most eloquent writer, wouldn't you agree? :p

(And I am modest to boot! \:D )

And no, Spin and I are not one and the same, but thank you for associating me with such a fine and intelligent gentleman, I am truly flattered! \:\)

All kidding aside, while I openly plead guilty to being wordy and long winded  , I don't believe I have repeated myself, at least not verbatum, nor in anything contained in my most recent post. The crux of my sentiment may indeed be repetitive, but that's only because I am RIGHT! and speak the TRUTH! ;\)

(OK, a couple of my phrases ARE repetitive, but if Bush can rely on sound bites and slogans, why can't I? \:D )

And I am certainly no more repetitive than Mr. Bush!

And might I add, F George W. Bush!

Regards,

Jim

My son Jonathan got sick at 7 months old due to a vaccine called prevnar. We recently went to Johns Hopkins in baltimore were we met with a specialist. My boy is paralized from the shoulders down. He will be two in two weeks. This doctor told us that if the restrictions that Bush has in place regarding stem cell were changed My son may have a chance of walking one day. what would you do!!!! If this was your son what and how would you feel Also if Bushs daughters were paralized do you think maybe God would tell him to change his mind. Bush is a complete lunatic .

"A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JOE REPUBLICAN"

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.

With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads.

He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.

The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Den,

OUTSTANDING!!

That's a bright boy, you should be very proud!

Congratulations!!

Isn't it ironic how so many of us take what we have and how we got it for granted?

Thank you very much for sharing that with us!

Sincerely,

Jim

Ct Outdoors,

My sympathy on your misfortune. I sincerely hope that successful treatment is discovered and that your son may someday make a full recovery and go on to lead a full, and happy life.

I have always been a supporter of appropriate stem cell research. Let's hope that someday, somehow, we can utilize this technology for everyone's benefit.

Again, I will keep a good thought for you and your family.

Sincerely,

Jim
