Had a chance to listen to the new Black Sabbath a few times now. Got the deluxe set so I have the 2'nd disc with 3 extra tunes. Only 8 tunes on Thirteen, but the shortest tune is 4:37, and 5 are over 7 minutes. Just over an hour between both discs.
Without doing research, I wonder if some of these are tunes that BS sat on for years like Van Halen did for their recent release. There's nothing hardcore about the disc(s) really, just good middle of the road stuff that reminds me of their early work. Track #4, Zeitgeist, is my favorite so far. Old school stuff that required digging out some tube/flange effects. Tasty. Plenty of instrumental work between vocal parts on some tunes, which stretches God is Dead? to almost 9 minutes.
This one was on my radar, and glad I picked it up. Freekin' old farts sound pretty good still. If you told me back in the 80's that Sabbath would still be functioning in 2013, I'd have slapped the folding sunglasses off your Member's Only jacket wearing a$$.
Any of you guys listening to Ghost BC? Came across them couple weeks ago. Kinda old school heavy of Sabbath, lil bit of Alice Cooper thrown in for some theatrics. Good and heavy without being overly distorted.
I've checked them out. Kind of gimmicky for me, but they have a unique sound. If you like them, check out and old band called Candlemass. Also kind of gimmicky, but also a unique sound.
I've been rockin out to some GBC as of late. Very tight, smooth and not all over the place. I dig em..
Anybody looking for something to do Wednesday (thanks giving eve)? we're playing at cherry street station in Wallingford with apostacy, eyes of the dead and Nasty disaster.....promises to be a good time and most likely a debauchery
