I am looking forward to the new Van Halen.Tattoo is an okay song, curious now to see what else they came up with .
Van Halen 1 is still one of my all time favorite albums !!!
It's tough, it's been so long and when you heard it you're looking to get blown away like the first time you heard Eruption. Solid tune, Diamond Dave still has his swagger, the band is tight and the sound is intact.
I'm very curious to hear the rest of the album. I heard on the radio they played a different new song at the club show in NYC and the commenter was surprised they didn't release that one first.
Had a chance to listen to Tattoo more. I definitely think they abuse the word tattoo in the song, but there's a real sweet spot in the song from 2:20 to 3:05 that shows there's some old Van Halen left. Sounds like Dave's having trouble with the high notes finally. But this song really didn't need em'.
Who knows. Maybe they released something closer to a B-side so they'll have more momentum and airplay down the road. Either way, I'm a bit more optimistic the album may not suck.
I'm feeling old tonight I was watching TV and an ad for Volkwagon came on and the song in the background was Ted Nugents Stranglehold. I was a big Nugent fan back in the day and I never thought I would ever see the day that someone would use anything by Nugent to sell cars. Whats next using Cat Scratch Fever to sell condoms.

Went to see Motorhead last night. The set was short, But great. The chase is better than the catch is one of my favorites and I would have gone just to hear that song. I have seen Lemmy a bunch of times. They should have been the headliner. Mickey Dee works like a maniac behind the drum kit. Volbeat is like Nickelback, All their crap sounds the same. I felt good because there were a lot of guys my age there, so I didn't feel like the old guy. I don't go to many shows now a days because the Tinnitus is so bad in my left ear. I bought an earplug kit that you mold plugs to fit your ear, Takes ten minutes for each ear to set. It's the best twenty bucks I ever spent. If it wasn't for the ear plugs I am sure the referee whistle that is in my ear 24-7 would be much worse right now. You still hear the sound, but without the damage (I think) The guy frisking at the entrance missed my flask of tequila and my Leatherman. I guess I didn't look that dangerous.
Saw Gigantour last night in NYC. My take-- Lacuna Coil- hot chick with a great voice. Male singer destroys the vocals; overall, pretty boring live act. Not sorry the set was only 20 min. Volbeat, in my opinion, stole the show. I've been really looking fwd to seeing them. Great sound, amazing energy, 45 min was not enough. Very cool end of their set, as they had the crowd going nuts playing a Slayer riff-- I think Angel of Death, but don't hold me to it. This was my first time seeing Motorhead, and bottom line is that at this stage of their career, they are what the are. Lemmy tried to interact w the audience, but we couldn't understand a word he was saying. Ace of Spades and Overkill were really good, but a quick 40-min set was fine with me. All the respect in the world to Lemmy, but I wouldn't see him again. Megadeth closed with what I thought was a lackluster 75 min set. Not enough old stuff and overall, they def acted their age. Think this may be my last time for them too. Thinking back to all the times I'd seen them in the 90's, it's just not the same. Say what you want about Metallica and the directions they've gone in the last 15 yrs, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who's seen them live and didn't love every second of it. Rock On!
Going to see TOOL at Mohegan on Tuesday night. My good friend from high school Adam Jones is the lead guitar for the band. I get to go back stage which is always an awesome time. TOOL is a fantastic band in my opinion.
