I have not fished the Obed River, but have fished the Caney Fork a bunch, it's pretty cool. The water comes out of Center Hill Lake around 52 degrees year round and crystal clear, it is stocked with trout. You can get some big trout. The Caney Fork runs into the Cumberland River, which has huge Stripers. In the warmer months the Stripers will come up all the way to the dam. Trout swimbaits can really get the Stripers. I remember hooking a trout once and having a 40 lb Striper take it right at my yak. I also remeber fishing Center Hill and foul hooking a HUGE Drum on 8 lb test. I ended up holding my spool to snap my line as opposed to getting spooled.
Licenses, tags done.went to TWRA office today got all our hunting / fishing lics and trout deer permits...120.00$....each.these are pics of the lobby.
quite impressive for a branch office.tags etc were pricey even as residents, there are a couple of ways we can knock it down next year on the computer but with wardens sitting right there we figured get everything for both of us and if we happen to run into them they heard us both buy duplicates of everything....and yes that bottom right fish is a walleye....really.
Blew out the master brake cylinder on the road coming back from town getting special torx socket to change bumper on the jeep,...lucky to be alive pedal went to the floor.sick feeling ...you dont ever want that...fishing on hold, again.
Your local pond is very similar to some of our Ct. lakes like Ball Pond. About the same size and both get about 3,000 adult trout per year. Will your new local lake freeze in the winter?
Absolutely not, no ice here except at some launches in jan....guys who normally use fiberglass boats use aluminum ice breakers ocasionaly to get to main lake areas .very rare though.
