I retired back in 2000. Lots of time to figure out the rules. My wife is a nurse and hospice care giver and I do a lot of volunteer work. That keeps her very busy so we both have many interests. We have a full basement divided into her sewing area and my workshop. I have a home office in a former bedroom and work space in the garage. She manages projects in the house, I manage the outside. You need to find ways to support each other and not get in each others way.

Bleatings...i call it sqwacking ,cackling ...howse about we just call it the ocasional "nails on a chalkboard"..and call it a day.Buck...you are no fun...except when we r fishing.
I needed to read this. Been retired about 2 years, wife a couple years longer. A few months after I retired, a friend of mine (a bit older, retired longer)asked me in his boisterous voice if the wife was ready to throw me out yet. I thought he was kidding..... Reminds me of a comment I heard on a radio show a few years back: Men have 2 choices, be lonely or be miserable. No in between. Getting adjusted to being retired is taking longer than getting adjusted to being married. Whew...…...

I got a taste of it last week. GF retires in 2 years. I will be old enough to draw SS then. May work or may go to PT.
Last week I was recuperating from surgery and she ended up home with an illness for the whole week. My tournament buddy used to have a saying. They will have you picking pepper out of birdshit. He's not joking. By the end of the week I was searching for tweezers.
