# 1 , as much as i despise the phrase" man cave"...get one,do it now.the wench is done working, retired,Ellen,Dr. Phil..shoot me NOW..get another big screen tv,build a addition if need be...if you want to remain sane and keep your mental facilities intact...we are still packing ugghh bla bla...kill me, no court would convict you.ill give you my boat...
My advice to married guys would be.....Get a divorce. You'll never be happier.
Think about this......If a plane ride destination 50% of the time crashed would you expect your friends and family to convince you not to take it, or wish you well, have a drink, give you money to go on it etc??? Of course they would convince you not to go right? That's when friends and family are for right? How come the same doesn't happen for marriage?
I have two man caves, one for rod building and the main one for big screen TV and computer equipment. Spare refrigerator in garage for adult beverages and portable air conditioner for summer comfort. I use a pair of Bose QC35 headphones to listen to the TV so I don't hear the bleetings from the little woman upstairs, doesn't get any better. Oh ya, my pit stop area is also downstairs with the man caves.
I retired back in 2000. Lots of time to figure out the rules. My wife is a nurse and hospice care giver and I do a lot of volunteer work. That keeps her very busy so we both have many interests. We have a full basement divided into her sewing area and my workshop. I have a home office in a former bedroom and work space in the garage. She manages projects in the house, I manage the outside. You need to find ways to support each other and not get in each others way.
Bleatings...i call it sqwacking ,cackling ...howse about we just call it the ocasional "nails on a chalkboard"..and call it a day.Buck...you are no fun...except when we r fishing.
I needed to read this. Been retired about 2 years, wife a couple years longer. A few months after I retired, a friend of mine (a bit older, retired longer)asked me in his boisterous voice if the wife was ready to throw me out yet. I thought he was kidding..... Reminds me of a comment I heard on a radio show a few years back: Men have 2 choices, be lonely or be miserable. No in between. Getting adjusted to being retired is taking longer than getting adjusted to being married. Whew...…...
I got a taste of it last week. GF retires in 2 years. I will be old enough to draw SS then. May work or may go to PT.
Last week I was recuperating from surgery and she ended up home with an illness for the whole week. My tournament buddy used to have a saying. They will have you picking pepper out of birdshit. He's not joking. By the end of the week I was searching for tweezers.
Oh yea,3 weeks in TN...micro managing has begun, not by me...i dont give a rats ass.i blame the lack of fishing.dove season opens here tomorrow,at noon, weird.maybe some feathered carnage will help.
One of the guys in the fishing clubs I am in was with his wife 40 years give or take and she is divorcing him. He says she is entering into dementia. I said stall her she will forget what she's doing eventually. He had to sell everything and move out at age 75 .
I thought that was bad till my dad just went through the same thing. 38 years together and his wife abandoned him to live in a rest home after she went in for some rehab. My dad is 84. He ended up in the nut hospital for 2 weeks with PTSD. Literally drove him crazy.
That is pretty extreme.im so sorry.its nowhere near that around here.i can always get in the truck and go somewhere for a couple hours.it is odd,20 years married,so used to not seeing each other much during the week then BAM 24/7. Takes time to adjust im guessin.
Observations on living a holy and successful life Chapter 21 Verse 9 "It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house." Verse 19 "It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman."
the case could be made that 'corner of the housetop' is the same thing as a man cave and 'dwell in the wilderness' refers to hunting and fishing LOL good luck
