Hello All,

I see that a permanent resident, hunting on his own land doesn't need a hunting license in CT.
( although I need a deer permit - OK)

I live in CT- I also live in NY

Is a permanent resident defined as holding a drivers lic in that state or is proof of ownership enough?

THANKS for your help!!

Where do you vote? What state do you have a driver's license in? What address do you use when you file your income tax?

You can't be a resident of two states, you need to pick one.

General rule of thumb is you must reside at the address for 6 months and a day for it to count as your permanent residence.

I go through this in New Hampshire. Yes I own a home there yes I pay taxes just like any other resident. I don't rent the house. I get all the reisdent benifits of the town like the resident dump permits, boat ramp permits but New Hampshire makes me get a non resident fishing license/ hunting license even though they make me register my tin boat I keep up there in New Hampshire. They also don't let me vote there even in local elections which directly effect me.

Genuine adventure isn't available mail order. It isn't delivered to your door like pizza. You have to apply imagination and actively seek the extraordinary if you want great barroom stories
Almost everyone has a golden recollection in their past, from which they draw to refuel life in the present. Very often, those memories are the product of instinctive initiative and some stretch of their imagination- a few moments in their life when they chose to believe in the impossible.

Exact same thing with me in Maine. My boat is registered there as it spends all summer on the lake. I pay my taxes for my house and I can get a dump permit but I still have to purchase a non-resident hunting and fishing license.
