Sounds like this was one of the best years yet. Nice job getting it together. Hope to be able to get there next year. The kids were really after me but the work schedule doesn't change for another week.
I fished with Scott J., his son Brandon, and my daughter Pamela. We had a blast with fish biting right from the very first cast.
Scott has really been teaching Brandon well, who was throwing artificials all day on a spinning reel. He knew about casting to structure. And, he was sure to tell us he knew the difference between weeds and fish when he was working his baits.
With big prize money on the line, culling was very important ...
My daughter loved catching sunnies and bass, but was a little apprehensive about fighting pickerel at first.
Brandon lost a big pickerel and Pamela lost a nice smallie that would have definitely been nice to bring to the weigh-in.
All and all, they made a great co-ed team and enjoyed catching a bunch of fish.

Hats off to Joe Sabas who puts the finishing touches on a great day and has become an integral part to kids remembering the day and looking forward to it each year!
First off - I want to thank Paul and the rest of you who put this together year in and year out. I was pumped to see the date this year because we've never been able to participate in previous kids days. My son and I had a blast and it was great to meet some new folks.
A huge thank you to Jon (Tall1) for offering to take my son and I fishing on his boat. Jon was a great captain and host - teaching us what we needed to know. I had a great time and judging by the fact that my son keeps talking about - I'm certain he did as well.
I have to admit, I've read a ton of threads talking about dropshotting and always wondered what drop shotting was - it seemed like something that would be really complicated. Jon was gracious enough to show us what it was and rig a few up to lets us have a go at it; it wasn't what I was expecting and it works.
I think the smiles on all the kids faces speaks to how much fun everyone had. Thanks again to all involved.
I'll add a few pics once I get them off the camera.
We had a blast fishing with my daughter Rachel and her friend Mia ! This was the first time we've taken her, and I think she's hooked, now ! We mostly did the night crawlers on slip bobbers most of the day with some drop shots mixed in. The bigger smallie was caught on the night crawler. The looks on their faces when it went airborne was priceless ! Did anyone here them screaming ? That pickerel slammed Rachel and almost took the rod out of her hand ! Drag screaming ! Kid's too ! Here are some various pictures throughout the day.

Good size perch ! Were into a school for a little while.
Nice to see Dave again, thanks for manning the scale.
Jon, thanks for being there for everyone at the event. Remember, I'll expect you to meet me at the launch to help launch my boat again next year. =)
Of course, thanks Mitch for making this all possible with the best website.
"Did anyone hear them scream?"
I'm pretty sure I heard them scream Paul.
The best part of the day for me was when Kayla and I were being trailed by a couple of bass fisherman. I caught one, hooked and let Kayla land one, then Kayla and I cuaght a double (all in a 5-10 minute span). . . I look over and see the bass fisherman searching through their tackle for something else to use! hahaha
