That's funny Blaine that you figured there was a story behind the name... your right. But this ones not an axe murderer.

Because Black Brits are a little unusual I wanted a name that was about her color. Her actual full AKC name is "Josey Jet Black". Ever hear someone describe the color as "jet Black" as in his hair was jet black.

Well "JET" is a shiny black semi-precious gemstone that is used to make jewlery. I once read a story about it and the men who mined the stone were refered to as "joes".

So there you go.... "Josey Jet"

What a cutie !
She has that intent look , very focused on what is going on around her .
I like that look in a pup .

Thanks ecurB... your avatar makes me think you know your dogs!! So far she is picking things up way faster than any other pup I've ever had. And I have had a bunch of pups...

It's gonna be a blast to train her, this is the first time I had a pup while working from home.

No pro , just someone who has an affinity for dogs .
Every new one I meet is subject to being my buddy !
The "mean" ones are a challenge , but as of yet my success ratio is 100% . biggrin

The Labs in my avatar are my buddy's , I've been privledged to know 5-6 generations of them and they've taught me some things .
Presently I'm "dogless" , but I have a standing order for the first pup who's born with any disability that would preclude it's sale .
So far , so good , no pups who "need me" !
Someday maybe , but for now I live vicariously.... biggrin

Yup.. the tube toy idea is not good I agree.

Too many drawbacks:

Hooked dog
Lower inventory
Customer returns for dog spit

Thanks for nothin Stark... rolleyes

A few things that we do with a new pup Crate training is a must / if she is wining at night take a little travel alarm wind up clock . wind it up and put it inside a old pillow case and place it in the crate she will think it is moms heartbeat and sleep curled up to it /another thing for inside the crate is a glow in the dark frisbee which will become her best friend and she will retrive quickley for ya when thrownOur Springer would dive under water 7 feet for that dam frisbee she was nuts BEST DOG WE EVER HAD

I always crate train them. Right now she sleeps in a small cage. we also have a large cage in the garage where she will stay as she gets older and lastly we have a nice 5x12 outside kennel with overhang from the patio shed. A little corner of the shed has a cool dog box to hang out in.

1st s nights have been very good. a little whinning when she 1st gets put in the cage and then about 6 hrs of peace before she starts up... but thats mastly because she has to go out to do her business. Tiny pup tiny bladder.

I get the feeling that her breeder is very good at one of the most important aspects of raising pups for sale (IMO) , socialization .

When she falls asleep on the floor after playing I put her in her cage with the door open to continue her crate training. But if she wakes up she comes out and goes right to my sneaker to finish her nap.

it's funny I just saaw this Pat, I had a long talk with the wife about "my next brittany" My wife really does not want anymore dogs, I on the other hand can't imagine life without one.

Josey Jet, what an awesome name, for an awesome pup.... You know I love the smell of puppies ~ The old sneaker trick lmao... when my brittany was a pup she had to sleep with one of my old "stinky" hunting socks! enjoy her Pat smile1

You can say anything foolish to a dog, and that dog will still give you a look that says, "WOW!! What a great idea!! I never would have thought of that!!"

Pat If you got an old hot water bottle put some warm water in it warpped up in a old blanket and put it in her cage along with the alarm Clock had an OLD Big Ben for many years the pups seem to like it alot. The water bottle will help keep her warm since she doesn't have anymore littlermates to sleep with.
