Finally getting ready to put the Steiger back in after 2 years. Location is Groton. What can I fish with just a Ct marine license. It truly pisses me off that I even have to ask this question. What a bunch of bozos.

From the Saltwater License FAQ page:
http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?a=2696&q=443060&depNav_GID=1630#Reciprocity

Can I fish in federal waters or in another state’s waters with a Connecticut Marine Waters license?

Federal waters: Yes. CT Marine Waters fishing license holders are exempt from the federal registry requirement. The CT Marine Waters Fishing License law was crafted to meet the federal criteria necessary to exempt our license holders from the federal registry.

New York: Yes, but... New York law only permits CT Marine Waters fishing license holders to fish in the waters of Long Island Sound lying between NY and CT. Reciprocal privileges in other nearby New York waters (e.g. Block Island Sound) still need to be determined by New York officials.

NH: Yes, but only in 2010. Thereafter, NH will begin selling their own marine fishing license. Since there is no reciprocity agreement between New Hampshire and Connecticut, CT marine water license holders will need to buy a New Hampshire marine license to fish in that state's marine waters beginning in 2011.

RI: Yes.

MA, ME do not have marine license laws yet, so it is not possible to provide an answer for those state's waters. We will update this page as information becomes available for each state.

I can't figure out how to put up an image from a pdf file...so, go to page 2 of this link. There is a map and explanation.

Is there a visual overhead map of what areas are fishable with our license? This combined with the written descriptions may help to eliminate some of the questioning of the licensing.

Pretty much any nautical chart shows the NY/CT line. Once you are east of Orient Point (north fork of Long Island), you need a NY license to fish the NY side of that line. West of Orient point, a CT license will work.

New York might cut their license fee, Albany, NY (06/18/2010)- Senator Brian X. Foley (D - District 3) yesterday announced that the Senate version of the bill to repeal New York's saltwater fishing license was approved by a vote of 60-1 on the floor of the Senate, with one abstention. The Foley-sponsored legislation (S6250) would create a registration system for recreational saltwater fishing which will track the name, address, date of birth and telephone number for each resident engaging in saltwater fishing. Each person who registers with the system will receive an identification number that is unique to him or her. Residents will be able to register for the system via the internet or a telephone number, as provided by the commissioner. This new registry would take the place of the saltwater fishing license that was mandated as part of last year's state budget.
