Captain - Yes, I am taking a personal interest in this one and I am hoping to get some backing from the judiciary. This sort of conduct is inexcusable. Law-abiding sportsmen should realize that this nonsense can be used to unfairly label them all as blood thirsty, cruel ogres. It's important that the public is made aware that snare traps are inhumane and ILLEGAL and that their use will not be tolerated. Sadly, it seems this guy is a long time licensed trapper. You have to wonder how many animals over the years suffered a slow death in his snares. I better stop now before I say something I'll regret. Again, kudos to DEP!!

was chatting with a Mass Game warden today actually and he was telling me about how(when he's not dealing with drunks on machines) he's been chasing the same Bear poachers and hiding out over the same bait piles for months. Sometimes it takes over a year to or two to "cross paths" with the poacher but , sooner or later you get them. thanks to the hard work of the understaffed Encon this is the type of investigation and spying that makes these poachers face the music..
Great job !!!

It's good to see that you finally published the name of a perpetrator. I questioned this practice last year when no names are ever published in your Monthly Activity Reports. Keep up the good work. Stay safe.

We don't, and won't publish names in our monthly highlights. In some of the incidents the person has gone to court and may have gotten probation, accelerated rehabilitation or the case may have been nolled. The two releases that I posted have been sent out as a press release immediately following the arrest, that's why the names are there.
