I am looking for ideas for February fishing.

One of my goals last year was to go fishing every month of the year, and I missed on February. I am going to give it another shot this year.

So, I am looking for ideas. Please post up you favorite February fishing memories so I can get some ideas. I am open to anything this year. I have not ice fished before. I usually like saltwater fishing for tasty critters, but again I really want to do it this year so I need more ideas. Frostfish? Winter flounder? Where?

I am willing to travel. I am on a budget, but don't let that stop you. I need options.

Thanks for the help!

I've been seeing a lot of reports on another site about the bottom fishing down in MHC. Did you guys talk to anybody about it when you were down there? I think Caveman fishing (the 55 Hooked Up 2) is running bottom trips at least through the GBFT season.

This brings to mind Frank's "12 Months of Stripers" where he caught a striper for every month of the year.

Besides ice-fishing, rivers may be a good option for you. There are still some catch and release trout sections that remain open. I'll come back to this thread later and post a few if no one else names them.

Farmington river is a no-brainer if you want to go FW.

Great ideas!

It's going to happen...Maybe a couple of times this Feb!

Last year I really wanted to try seabass out of the mid-atlantic, but it never materialized. I don't think they are running them this year

Jay, we saw the boat, but it was too cold to walk the docks down there. Capt. Mike was going to let us drop on a couple wreaks, but we didn't get around to it. Hatteras seems to be a pretty good bet now.
