Bait,

Sorry about the caps, you're reading me wrong, not emotion or anger, just a writing style. Bad habit of mine! I'm having alot of fun with all of this and really enjoy a good debate, esp. politics! \:\) Although I am passionate about politics and my beliefs, and I do hate Ann Coulter, I even hate her more than Rush Limbaugh, because she's even smarmier and more annoying! And I stand by my statement! (B*t*h! :p )

I think her observation about the DNC and the NEA is only valid insofar as the Democrats actually care about public education and recognize that any voucher system will utimately be its undoing and will leave only the poor and working class out in the cold while the wealthy, who can already afford the best of the best, will be subsidized by the rest of us. Talk about the tail wagging the dog! And I again, stand by my statement. Vouchers NAY!

Like I said, why don't we privatize everything, police, fire service, ems, sewers and water, sanitation, education, social security, health care.... we can create a truly capitalist society where the rule is survival of the fittest. Wanna see where that will lead? Remember the French Revolution? Let them eat cake?

Anyone who cannot see the value of tempered and measured socialist programming, like public education or social security for example, and thinks that socialism is evil and won't work, must believe that Europe doesn't exist!

I'm not a teacher, my wife and daughter are, I am a Youth Services Officer with DCF at the CT Juvenile Training School in Middletown (code for juvenile corrections officer in the teenager jail), and a loyal member of AFSCME! If people who work with kids seem rude to you perhaps it is because of the frustrations we experience from working with other peoples troubled children with no support or appreciation from the system, or the general public. \:o We are not given the tools we need to perform our jobs. Its like giving someone a screwdriver and telling them to build a house. (I'd like a screwdriver, make it a double! :p \:D )

Never have so few,
been asked to do so much,
for so many,
with so little!
We the unwilling,
led by the unknowing,
are doing the impossible,
for the ungrateful.
We have done so much,
with so little,
for so long,
that we are now qualified to do anything,
and everything,
with practically nothing!

My interests and that of my wife are not self interests. I expect to gain nothing personally from any of the ideals to which I subscribe or the changes I would support. My wife and I make a very good living and I seek nothing for myself. I am concerned about those who have less than me, whereas so many right wingers seem to be concerned for those who have more than everyone! Trust me, we need not worry for them, they will be just fine!

My interests and those of my wife are geared towards educating the poor and working poor in order to break the cycle of poverty. Believe it or not, the kids that she can't reach in school, or that I cannot rehabilitate at CJTS, are not just their parents' problems, they will soon become yours and mine! If we do not effectively provide them with genuine education and opportunity they will continue to be a drain on our economy and society, and they will become our next generation of welfare recipients and prison population. Trust me, I live with it every day!

The rest of your last post I guess I have to pretty much agree with.

I didn't mean to be less than civil, again I apologize for the caps. But I am being honest. And again, I stand by my statements. (And Ann Coulter really is a b*t*h! \:D )

Thank you for an absolutely stimulating debate! \:\)

Your friend and fellow American,

Jim
