I know, how about we have a VOUCHER system for protective services, too! That way when the wealthy hire their own security services, and alarm companies, and fire protection for their estates, and decide they don't NEED to utilize police, fire, or EMS, they get a TAX BREAK!! We can ALL subsidize their wealth and privelege!! :p

And if there were a legitimate National Security interest and my son volunteered or was drafted and, GOD FORBID, lost his life, I could live with that, but THIS CRAP IN IRAQ?!?! NO FREAKIN WAY!!!

And I agree with you that if such an emergency existed at least that WOULD be a fairer situation, in light of the number of women we have in the service anyway, not to mention police, firefighters, etc etc, and how exemplary women have performed these duties!
